The Violence Against Women Act (VAWA), which increases public awareness of domestic violence and sexual assault, and creates funding for housing, counseling, and training for those who provide services to survivors, is set to expire on December 7.
The Violence Against Women Reauthorization Act of 2018 (H.R. 6545) is a bi-partisan effort to protect essential resources for survivors and improve the scope of the original VAWA. It will increase support for underserved communities, improved healthcare responses, and added rights and protections for survivors.
